This is so bad, it's hilarious. As if the HTC Mozart needed any further confirmation of its existence and imminent arrival to British shores, Orange's official web portal has decided to instruct us on how to replace the internal bits of this unannounced Windows Phone 7 handset. That's right, even though HTC and Microsoft are acting all cloak and dagger about it, the freaking phone's name and likeness are hanging out on Orange's official website. Have we said the word "official" enough times already? Skip past the break for a couple more image grabs which are sure to disappear just as soon as Orange finally figures out what day of the month this is.

Lookout Mobile Security is a great free antivirus for Android

An Android device is a sensitive thing; it's hooked up to your Google account, and there are tons of apps out there. While Android does let you know what an app will be able to access ("SD Card" etc.), it has no built-in mechanism for telling the genuinely useful applications from the ones that are out to get you.

Lookout Mobile Security is one possible solution. It's an anti-virus application that monitors all other software applicatons and scans them. It can also scan your Android device on a daily or weekly basis, and just like any other self-respecting anti-virus, it automatically updates itself online.

The anti-virus isn't the coolest thing about Lookout Mobile Security, though: It has a Find My Phone feature that can show you your Android device on a map, using the device's own GPS, without requiring any confirmation on the device itself. I'm not sure how useful that is for actually retrieving a lost device, but it's still nice to know the general vicinity of its whereabouts.

If you just happen to misplace your device somewhere in your apartment, you can also use Find My Phone to activate a "siren" from the Web - the device starts emitting an obnoxiously loud noise, which you're bound to hear if it's anywhere around.

Last but not least, Lookout Mobile Security also features a data backup solution. As a novice Android user, I'm not quite sure what that's good for - I think most of my data is backed up on my linked Google account anyway. It does allow you to automatically back up photos, which is handy indeed.

Skype lands Cisco's Tony Bates as new CEO

It may sound fairly bland on paper, but the potential implications here are notable. Tony Bates, who was seen as a major player within Cisco reporting directly to CEO John Chambers, has just left to take over the CEO role at Skype. Cisco's own blog affirmed that Bates was leaving "to pursue another opportunity," and The New York Times has it that Joshua Silverman is stepping aside to make room for Mr. Bates. He'll arrive just in time to make a serious push for an IPO, grab more profit from its blossoming user base (which largely doesn't pay anything to make Skype-to-Skype calls) and possibly "make a deeper push into carrier and enterprise markets," as GigaOM puts it. Frankly, we'd be interested in seeing if any leftover synergies (yeah, we said it) could lead to a Skype-enabled Flip Video camcorder. Bates would obviously have great contacts with Cisco in order to make it happen, and honestly, it'd be a win-win for both parties. Crazier things have happened, right?

WarLight is an addictive turn-based, Risk-style Time-Waster

I don't remember when I last posted a turn-based Time-Waster, but WarLight was so nice, I simply couldn't skip it. It's basically Risk; you get a world map, and you start off with a certain percentage in your color. With every turn, you get a few more "armies" (depending on how much space you've conquered), and you try to take over more of the map by attacking certain territories.

Each turn is made up of three stages. First, you deploy all of the new armies that you received (each country may have more than one army stationed in it). Then, you attack or transfer into new territories.

You can see how many armies are currently stationed in every new territory; if a territory has 10 armies, attacking it with a single army would do you little good.

Of course, while all of this is going on, your rival is also attacking and conquering their own section of the world and rapidly approaching your territories. Suddenly, you need to start fortifying your territories, finding ways to conquer your rival's territories, and figuring out what they're going to do next.

The game is very versatile, and it offers a ton of options. You can even graph your progress through the game in order to see how many armies each of you had on the board at every turn, or how many territories each of you controlled, etc.

You can play against the computer (especially useful for learning the game - there's a tutorial to start you off), but the real fun begins when you play against another person. This is one of those games that can be open in a background window all day long. It's very addictive indeed.
